I have just ordered another Fry-Daddy.This will be the third one that I have had over the years.It is lighweight and is just a pot that holds oil as someone said.It is so convenient and not heavy, it makes it easy to store if you do not have countertop room.There are all kinds of deep fryers, but none that does a better job than this one.I would recommend it to anyone.

I originally bought the Cuisinart CDF-100 fryer because this unit was always out of stock. This was the one I wanted. The Cusinart fried good, but clean up was a lot more time consuming. You had to pour water in the unit while its on your countertop. With this, the oil box is seperate from the base. You can throw it in the dishwasher or wash under the sink. It has a lot of plastic parts, this has a lot of stainless steel.

This basket is nice and big, the side walls of the oil box are high and probably double the size of the Cusinart, less oil splattering everywhere. The cusinart has a charcoal filter for smell. I fry with peanut oil, the oil has no smell compared with cheaper veggie or canola oil. This unit has no charcoal filter, you don't need it. Lots of condensation would occur if there was a filter. Everytime I opened the lid to the Cuisinart, I had to wipe inside of the lid, if not, the water would drip in the oil and you get the popping sounds from the oil.

So why do I have this after I have the Cusinart? The basket on the Cusinart rest on the bottom of the frying box. The interior of the box is coated with a thin non stick coating. The coating got scratched in a few spots and I'm not going to fry in that. This happened after only a few weeks after I bought here on Amazon. Amazon's policy is returned only if unopened or defective. I didn't want to deal with the hassle and just ordered this. I'll probably give Cusinart a call soon. But its not worth it to me if it will cost me money to ship it, I would rather throw it away. With this Waring unit, the basket rest on the heating elements. The heating elements do not touch the bottom.

Spend the extra few bucks for this unit and you might have to wait because this is always selling out.

Presto 05420 FryDaddy Electric Deep Fryer Review

I've had one of these little fryer appliances since they first became popular in the seventies.The current model is the second one I've had, being larger than the original model that came out.
For someone not needing to fry enormous amounts at one time, this little machine is ideal.It requires only a very small amount of vegetable oil.I've used it to fry chicken wings, quickly, to do french fries and onion rings, to do other smaller chicken parts, and it works beautifully.There is no thermostat; you just plug it in, wait 10 minutes, and the temp is 375.Having such a small amount of grease, it recovers heat more quickly than an electric skillet.
When you are through, if you plan to reuse the grease you can simply let the machine cool, snap the plastic top on, the put the whole thing in the fridge.I don't fry that often, and when I do, I tend to fry a lot, so usually I just discard the oil.Such a small amount is used (usually no more than 3 cups starting out) that I don't feel bad about discarding the oil.
The sides on this appliance are quite high, and splatter around the machine has never been a problem.I used common sense, though, when I fry, whether it's here or on the stove.
I'm sure the all-enclosed auto-fryers that are out on the market are nice, and if I fried a lot I'd probably get one.However, I only fry once or twice a month, and for that, this little machine is perfect.I'd recommend one to anyone--durable, simple, and does exactly what it's designed for!

Presto 05466 ProFry Stainless-Steel Dual-Basket Immersion-Element 12-Cup Deep Fryer Review

In light of Shelley Ryan's excellent report on the problem she had with her Presto fryer, I thought I should report my own experience.I filled my fryer with oil and let it come up to temperature on the highest setting. I checked the temperature with my own thermometer when the light went out, and indeed the temperature was only around 340 degrees rather than 375 as it should be.But, after simply mixing the oil around a bit with the drip baskets, I found that within a few minutes the temperature rose right up to 375 degrees, as it was supposed to be.The heating elements are very close to the unit's internal thermostat, and I think that you need to get the oil moving a bit in order for all of the oil to heat uniformly up to the correct temperature.

Of course, once the food gets frying there is plenty of movement in the oil to even out the temperature.And given the substantial amount of oil and the amount of power supplied by the unit's heating elements, I find that it does a much better, cleaner, and safer job of frying than I'd been experiencing on my gas stovetop with a deep pot. My experience has been that the temperature comes back up to the right level very quickly.The french fries, empanadas, and fried chicken I've cooked in it so far have come out great.

As some others have posted in reply to her review, it's possible that the thermostat in Ryan's unit was simply defective.For mine, it seems to be just right.

Presto Professional CoolDaddy Electric Deep Fryer Review

This is a great little fryer. It cooks enough for 2 servings at a time, do not overload. It has a nice list of features. The basket is very handy, the temperature guage and ready light work well and the lid with vents and a filter help reduce the grease smell in your house. Some foods with a lot of moisture will not fry well with the lid closed and even with the lid closed you will not eliminate the odor completely. I set this up on my stove when I use it so that I'm able to use the exhaust fan as well and then I am able to eliminate all of the smell. It cleans up nicely and I'm able to store the oil in it between uses for weeks.

The previous reviews clearly were not using as this is intended. I suspect they were overfilling with oil/food/both.
